
The actress Kaitlin Olson has been chosen to play the main role of the American remake of the hit TF1 series HPI played by Audrey Fleurot, announced ABC Signature (Disney), which acquired the adaptation rights last September (Satellifacts, September 15). The 47-year-old actress is one of the stars of the FX sitcom Philadelphia. She will play Morgan (without "e" for the US version), single mother of three children, whimsical and endowed with an exceptional IQ. It is Daniel Sunjata (Graceland, Grey's Anatomy, Rescue Me) who will play the very scrupulous commander Adam Karadec, played by Mehdi Nebbou on TF1.
Also announced: Javicia Leslie, star of the series Batwoman (The CW), in the role of Daphné (Bérangère McNeese, in the French version), the Australian Deniz Akdeniz, star of The Flight Attendant, in the role of Lev “Oz" Osman. The writing of this American remake was entrusted to Drew Goddard, scriptwriter of World War Z and Cloverfield. Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) is the showrunner and producer.
Created by Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, Stéphane Carrié and Nicolas Jean, the French detective series is produced by Septembre Productions (Mediawan) and by Route Productions (UGC group). Two seasons were broadcast and a third was shot. According to the specialized site Deadline, Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg officiate as producers of the remake for Goddard Textiles; Thomas and Dan Etheridge for Spondoolie Productions as well as Pierre Laugier and Anthony Lancret for Route Productions.
HPI broke audience records on TF1. In addition to the 1st place in fiction audiences in 2022, with 10.9 million viewers, the series occupied the first eight places of the genre in the Top 100 (including three places in the Top 10 behind the Mondial) of the year.
