After debuting on Fox (1999-2003) and a first return to Comedy Central (2010-2013), Futurama returns for an 11th season exclusively on Disney+ on July 24, the platform announced on Wednesday May 24. The cult adult animated series, created by Matt Groening and developed by David X. Cohen, reconnects with its heroes Fry, New York pizza delivery boy victim of a 1,000-year-old freeze, Cyclops Leela and robot Bender, still in their interstellar delivery company Planet Express.

This 10-episode season will allow fans to finally have the answer to many questions such as Fry and Leela's relationship, the content of Nibbler's litter box or even the mysterious past of the evil Robot Santa, explains Disney+. In addition, “in the midst of a pandemic, our heroes are wondering about the future of vaccination, bitcoins, cancel culture and streaming”, according to the press release.

20th Television Animation (Disney Television Studios) has relaunched Futurama with the production of 20 new episodes (Satellifacts, February 14, 2022). The animated sitcom already has 140 episodes in seven or ten seasons (depending on how you count), as well as four straight-to-DVD movies from 2007 to 2009.
