Karlovy Vary 2023: Ewan McGregor and Alicia Vikander in the spotlight; "Firebrand" in opening

Scottish actor, director and producer Ewan McGregor and Swedish actress Alicia Vikander will be the stars of the 57th edition of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in the Czech Republic (June 30 to July 8), where they will each receive the Karlovy Vary IFF President's Award.

They will both come to present their latest film. Firebrand by Karim Aïnouz, in which Alicia Vikander plays the last wife of Henry VIII (played by Jude Law), will be screened at the opening of this 2023 edition. The film, presented this year in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, is adapted from the novel Elizabeth Fremantle's Queen's Gambit. For his part, Ewan McGregor will present You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, in which he plays alongside his daughter Clara McGregor.
