Filming of the western Rust, halted in October 2021 after an accidental shooting by Alec Baldwin killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, will resume in the spring with a crew of old and new technicians, The Hollywood Reporter reported on Tuesday, February 14. Alec Baldwin, who also produced the film, will reprise his role. Direction of photography will be provided by Bianca Cline. The scene that was in rehearsal at the time of the accident was rewritten.

A documentary on Halyna Hutchins is also planned, and will cover in particular to her work on Rust. It will be directed by Rachel Mason. Matthew Hutchins, her widower, who gave his agreement for this film, will be executive producer, just like on Rust.

The announcements come as Alec Baldwin and the film's gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who handled the weapon, have both been charged with manslaughter (Satellifacts, February 1). The resumption of filming had already been mentioned for January, probably in California, after an agreement was reached between the American actor and Matthew Hutchins, ending the civil legal proceedings. The victim's parents and sister then attacked Alec Baldwin in a civil suit (Satellifacts, February 10).
