In the aftermath of the knife attack in Annecy which left six injured, including four children, among whom several were in a state of absolute emergency, the International Animation Film Festival organized in the city from June 11 to 17 announced on Friday June 9 that the event would open on Sunday June 11.

This decision was taken “in consultation with the authorities ”, being “now proven that it is an isolated act”, underlines the press release.

However, "as a sign of support for the families and the victims ", the management and the festival team have decided to postpone the launch of the outdoor sessions scheduled for June 11 to this Monday 12. These screenings traditionally take place on the Pâquier, on the edge of the lake, where these "dramatic events [which] affected Annecy residents deep within themselves, France and beyond our borders" took place.
