The documentary series 1942 (6 x 52'), which Arte will broadcast in two evenings on February 28 and March 1, will tell the story of Second World War "differently." “Far from the heroic stories of the military chronicle, [it] makes another voice heard: that of those who, in the four corners of the globe, have experienced the war,” indicated the channel on Tuesday, January 31. It also wishes to be “a tribute to all those who suffer from war.”
Produced by Agat Films, 1942 (the year when the war took on global dimensions) is therefore interested in those who suffered it other than in combat, with its share of deprivations, bereavements, separations and uncertainties which are approached by "intimate stories, letters, autobiography, reported words." Narrated by Anna Mouglalis, the series is directed by Véronique Lagoarde-Ségot who wrote it with Marc Ball.
1942 will be available in its entirety on arte.tv from February 21 until October 27.
