The Countrymen series (Jordbrukerne , 8 x 45 '), co-produced by Arte France and Rubicon for the Norwegian public channel NRK, will be launched on Thursday June 8, in prime time, Arte announced. It will be available on arte.tv from June 1 to July 14. This “gritty” and “wacky comedy between culture shock and quest for belonging”, distinguished at several festivals, including Canneseries (Satellifacts, October 13, 2021), is directed by Izer Aliu, Aurora Gossé and Brwa Vahabpour. The screenplay is co-written by Izer Aliu and Anne Björnstad.
The fiction follows three Islamists who secretly settle in a farm in Norway in order to manufacture a bomb sponsored by a terrorist group. The interference of the natives and the surprise arrival of a childhood friend accompanied by his daughter will thwart the plans of the lazy group, soon forced to produce goat cheese as a cover.
The series had won the special interpretation prize for its entire cast at Canneseries in 2021. The cast brings together Nader Khademi, Ayaz Hussain, Jonas Strand Gravli, Arben Bala and Erika Strand Mamelund.
