BBC One will launch the detective series Beyond Paradise (6 x 60') on Friday February 24, production company Red Planet Pictures, a British subsidiary of Asacha Media Group, announced on Twitter. It is a spin-off of his hit series Death in Paradise, shot in Guadeloupe and broadcast in France on France Télévisions under the title Meurtres au paradis.
Commissioned by the BBC and the BritBox International streaming service, Beyond Paradise follows the investigations led by Chief Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), returning after leaving the original series at the end of season 6, and his fiancée, Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton). Both have settled in Shipton Abbott, near the Devonshire coast and are investigating, in each episode, a new homicide.
The series, also accessible on BBC iPlayer, was created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan, Founder and CEO of Red Planet, also a showrunner and producer alongside Tim Key and Belinda Campbell.
Its broadcast in the United States and Canada on BritBox International is also scheduled from February 24. BBC Studios provides international distribution for Beyond Paradise.
