beIN Sports/FIFA World Cup: up to 4.2 million viewers per day

beIN Sports France recorded historic audiences during the broadcast of the FIFA World Cup (November 20-December 18), celebrated the broadcaster who held the exclusive rights to the entirety of the competition on pay-TV. TF1 broadcast on free-to-air 28 games out of a total of 64 matches, including those of the French team.

In total, 20.4 million viewers followed the matches and programs dedicated to the event on beIN, with up to 4.2 million per day (on December 9), the record in cumulative audience for the channel, all periods and competitions combined, emphasized the press release.

With the exclusive Brazil/Croatia match, beIN recorded a record peak of 2 million people. With 1.30 million viewers on average for this game, it is also a historic audience record for a World Cup quarter-final broadcast on beIN Sports, they specified.

The matches of the French team, co-broadcast on TF1, achieved "exceptional scores" beIN stated: up to 1.12 million viewers during the Argentina/France final (1 million on average); up to 1.14 million for the France/Morocco semi-final (1.06 on average); up to 1.11 million during the quarter-final England/France (1.01 million on average), detailed beIN. The highest peaks reached in the competition included: Morocco/Spain, up to 1,633,000 viewers; Japan/Croatia, up to 1,439,000 viewers.

On digital, beIN Sports indicated that they reached more than 477.5 million videos viewed on all of its platforms, sites and social networks throughout the competition.

The final won on Sunday, December 18 on penalties by Argentina against France, and broadcast from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., was watched by 24.08 million people on TF1, or 80.1% of audience share, peaking at 29.4 million viewers during the penalty shootout and 3 million live on the MYTF1 platform (Satellifacts, December 19).
