BFM TV: complaint after the attack on two of its journalists during a demonstration

BFM TV will file a complaint after the attack on two of its journalists on Tuesday in Paris while they were covering the demonstration against the pension reform, we learned on Wednesday March 29 from the news channel. "BFM TV strongly condemns the attack on its journalists and reaffirms its commitment to freedom of the press and the right to information", it first indicated on its website. Before specifying that she and the two journalists in question, Jérémie Paire and Baptiste Keita, will file a complaint.

According to their account, published on the channel's website, they were attacked twice, first in the Place de la République, then around the Place de la Nation, including "kicks and punches ". According to the journalists, “there was the desire to steal the camera ”. The intervention of “a participant in the demonstration and [of] a few other people” finally allowed “their exfiltration” of the procession, they also reported.

For the record, in November 2018, three journalists from BFM TV and CNews filed a complaint for violence and attempted assaults while covering a demonstration of "yellow jackets" in Toulouse. Céline Pigalle, then editorial director of BFM TV, had indicated that the channel would file a complaint “every time this type of event occurs ” (Satellifacts, November 25, 2018).
