Nine women accuse black American actor Bill Cosby of sexual assault and are suing him in Nevada, 3 weeks after that US state ended the statute of limitations for civil sexual assault lawsuits. In documents filed in court on Wednesday, June 14, they accuse the comedian of having used "his enormous power, his notoriety and his prestige" to isolate and attack them, according to NBC. These attacks took place between 1979 and 1992 in houses, hotels or lodges in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Reno, in the State of Nevada, the chain specified.
Bill Cosby, 85, was a famous actor in the United States during the 1980s, nicknamed at the time "America's Dad" for his role as a father in The Cosby Show, a hit series that aired from 1984 to 1992.
In recent years, dozens of women, many of them models or young aspiring actresses, have accused the actor of sexual assault. They present him as a calculating predator, having made them drink alcohol and sleeping pills to achieve his ends. But the facts were time-barred in all but one case, for which Bill Cosby was criminally convicted in 2018 and imprisoned, before the conviction was overturned in 2021 for a formality defect. He was, however, found liable last year in a civil lawsuit. The actor's spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, has consistently dismissed the accusations, accusing the women of being driven by "their addiction to media attention and greed."
