Black Sheep (Augustin Bernard) and france.tv studio (Toma de Matteis) will start shooting the soap opera Déter (provisional title, 200 x 7') in Brittany in April, they announced on Thursday, January 12, during a press conference in Rennes. This daily soap will be broadcast from next autumn, Monday to Friday on the france.tv/slash platform, then at the end of the week in a long format (35') on one of the France Télévisions channels. The series, created by Niels Rahou (Diana Boss, Skam), has a budget of 10 million euros.

The series, which will follow the daily life of five young friends in their final year in an agricultural high school, was announced by the public group in September during the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, under the working title of STAV. The digital fiction team had raised the issue of “the colossal stake” around this “first streaming soap opera” (Satellifacts, September 18).

"It's a project in which we believe a lot because it's the story of youth with, implicitly, the world of agriculture with young people who do not all have the same origins, not the same desires or same goals," said Toma de Matteis during the press conference. "Agricultural high schools are little known and sometimes a little stigmatized," stated Augustin Bernard, adding that the tone of the series would be "joyful," tinged with "humor" and "emotion."

Casting is underway, with producers looking for "new faces" and young professional comedians "little seen on screen." Filming will take place near Vitré, in Ille-et-Vilaine, in the former private agricultural school of Etrelles, built in 1947 and which closed in 2019. It is scheduled to last until October.

Black Sheep has produced the series Mental (2 seasons) with Shine Fiction (Banijay), for france.tv/slash.
