C8 / "TPMP" / Brav-M: the prefect of police denounces a sequence which "discredits" the unit
The presence of four people wrongly presented as members of the Brav-M in the program Touche pas à mon poste (TPMP) by Cyril Hanouna "casts discredit" on this unit, regretted the prefect of police of Paris, Laurent Nuñez, guest of the C8 show, Monday April 3. He also confirmed that an “administrative investigation [was] in progress”, led by the IGPN, the police force. “There will probably be a judicial inquiry that will be opened,” he added, recalling having taken legal action after the sequence (Satellifacts, April 2).
Friday March 31, on the set of TPMP, three men and a woman, hooded, their voices modified, an orange armband marked police on their arm, presented themselves for some as members of the Brav-M, the motorized Brigade for the Suppression of Violent Actions. This motorcycle police unit has been under the spotlight for several days, accused of violence on protesters against pension reform.
“When an official who has been dismissed speaks on behalf of Brav-M, for me it is a problem ”, added the prefect Nuñez, who was present on the set at the proposal of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin. He also denounced the "failure to respect the duty of reserve" of other officials. As of Friday evening, he announced the opening of an administrative investigation, ensuring that "the first elements in possession" of the police headquarters left "to think that these people do not belong to the Brav-M". According to concordant sources with AFP, none is a member of this unit. A man named Cédric, who presented himself as the spokesperson, was dismissed from the national police in December 2022.
Lionel Stan, managing director of H2O (the company of Cyril Hanouna, a subsidiary of the Banijay group), who had already considered in Le Parisien Dimanche that there was "no corrective action to be taken" (Satellifacts, April 2), said reacted again on Tuesday at the end of the afternoon. “We have received four police officers on the set, and we have a copy of their police card,” he explains in a press release from H2O.
He also points out once again the clarification provided by one of the speakers, Cédric V., during the program : "There are among us members of the Brav-M and members of specialized units who intervene on the maintenance order, and we've been doing that all our careers. "This information was also broadcast during the show via a banner for viewers," said the production company.
On Saturday April 1 in the morning, Arcom also indicated that it had been "seized by viewers" about this sequence which it will "view" and " instruct if necessary", according to its usual procedure.
