British cinematographer Barry Ackroyd will be rewarded at the traditional Pierre-Angénieux tribute evening, which distinguishes a cinematographer or director of photography each year, the lens manufacturer announced on Friday April 14. The evening will take place on Friday May 26, opened by Thierry Frémaux, the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival.
Barry Ackroyd has notably photographed 12 films by Ken Loach, and won a Bafta for best cinematography for The Hurt Locker by Kathryn Bigelow in 2008. He has also collaborated four times with Paul Greengrass.
In addition, the Angénieux Special Encouragement, which since 2018 has highlighted the promising work of a young cinematographer, will be awarded to the Egyptian director of photography Haya Khairat, who will receive a special endowment to use Angénieux technology on his next project.
