Un Prince by Pierre Creton, whose screenplay was done with Mathilde Girard, Cyril Neyrat and Vincent Barré, won the SACD Prize for the Quinzaine des Cinéastes on Thursday May 25 at the Cannes Film Festival. The organization hailed "the bet on a personal utopia", an "indispensable" cinema which "does not show us everything, that promises us so many lands".
The film tells the story of a young man who joins a training center to become a gardener. There, he meets a series of key characters for his learning and openness to his sexuality. The cast includes Antoine Pirotte, Pierre Creton, Manon Schaap, Vincent Barré and Pierre Barray, with the voices of Grégory Gadebois, Mathieu Amalric and Françoise Lebrun.
Author of around twenty feature films, Pierre Creton succeeds Thomas Salvador for La Montagne (France, 2022), Vincent Maël Cardona for Les Magnétiques (France, 2021), Rebecca Zlotowski for Une fille facile (France, 2019), Pierre Salvadori for En liberté! (France, 2018) or even Claire Denis for Un beau Soleil intérieur (France, 2017). The prize has been awarded since 2008.
