
Lions by Beru Tessema, produced by KG Productions and Prélude (France) as well as Saturday Films (UK), received the grand prize and the Be TV prize at the 21st edition of the Unifrance short film prize, awarded on Thursday May 25 as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
The Special Jury Prize went to Ici s'achève le monde connu by Anne-Sophie Nanki, produced by Vertical Production and Black Moon Films (France), while the Grand Action prize went to Cœur Béton by Enrika Panero, produced by Takami Productions (France).
The Best Actress award went to Lou Deleuze for Les Dents du bonheur by Joséphine Darcy Hopkins, produced by To Be Continued and Le Lapin Blanc Production (France) as well as Need Productions (Belgium). The film also received the RTBF award. The Best Actor prize was awarded to Théo Augier Bonaventure for Coupeur de route by Christophe Granger, produced by Haïku Films (France). Ghosts by the collective (La)Horde, produced by the Ballet national de Marseille, Henry and Toni Films (France) with MJZ (United States), also received the Movistar+ prize.
It should be noted that Unifrance also singled out Autour de Minuit, which received the 2023 distributor prize in recognition of its international distribution work on short films. The prize is awarded in partnership with La Fête du court mètre.
