The works of ten directors from the French and international contemporary animation scene, selected by the Miyu gallery, enter the collections of the Cinémathèque française, under a partnership between the two entities, it was announced Thursday, April 6 (Satellifacts, June 12, 2022).
This donation includes " non-film documents " (preparatory drawings, research notebooks, storyboards, animation sheets, etc.) as well as 35 mm films on film and digital media by Boris Labbé, Theodore Ushev, Céline Devaux, Vergine Keaton, Florence Miailhe, Dahee Jeong , Momoko Seto, Gianluigi Toccafondo, Koji Yamamura and Georges Schwizgebel.
The "film" donation benefited from the contribution of the production companies Les Films de l'Arlequin, Les Films Pélléas, Les Films Sauvages, Le Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains, Insolence Productions, the National Film Board, Sacrebleu Productions.
On this occasion, the Cinémathèque will organize, on April 21, screenings of ten short films by directors whose works are part of the donation. For its part, the Miyu gallery is showing, from April 21 to June 17, an exhibition entitled Matières à animer, a selection of the donation in order to "show all the plastic richness of contemporary animated creation".
