The hit video game Death Stranding, created by the Japanese Hideo Kojima, will be the subject of a film adaptation, according to information from Deadline, published on Friday, December 16. The creator's company Kojima Productions has teamed up with American studio Hammerstone Studios (Alex Lebovici) to develop and produce the film. It will be fully funded by Hammerstone.

Death Stranding is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the United States is no longer united and a strange rain is accelerating aging. Actors Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Léa Seydoux and Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo del Toro and Margaret Qualley, who lent their features to the game's characters, are set to reprise their roles in this adaptation.
Also author of the Metal Gear series of games, Hideo Kojima launched his studio seven years ago, after leaving games publisher Konami. On his Twitter profile, he says, "70% of my body is made up of movies."
