French actress Eva Green won her lawsuit in London on Friday April 28 against the production company of a science fiction film from which she was claiming her fee despite the cancellation of the feature film A Patriot, whose production had been stopped in October 2019.

She had sued the White Lantern Film company to claim her $1 million (€918,000) fee for the film, despite its cancellation. The British production company, however, decided to counterattack by launching its own lawsuits against the actress, believing that she had made "unreasonable demands" and harmed the production of the film. In its judgment, the High Court of London agreed with the actress and dismissed the production company. Judge Michael Green found that the actress did not "waive of duty" and did not commit any fatal breaches.

During the trial, which was held at the beginning of the year (Satellifacts, January 26), the actress invoked her “French side” to explain the disparaging messages she had sent during filming. She had assured that she had "fallen in love" with the film project which was to deal with the climate crisis. Lawyers for White Lantern Film, however, believed that the actress had expressed "lack of trust and dissatisfaction" with members of the production team, relying on WhatsApp messages. The actress' lawyer, Edmund Cullen, had argued that these messages should be read in the context of negotiations to buy the rights to the script to make it a different film. He had denounced a case designed to portray Eva Green as a "diva", "make headlines" and "damage her reputation".
