In partnership with Fipadoc 2023 (January 20 to 28 in Biarritz), the Association for Women in the Media (l’association Pour les femmes dans les médias, PFDM) is strengthening its presence and its system around parity for more "women directors in documentaries," they announced on Wednesday, January 18.
The association will award for the 3rd consecutive year the PFDM prize for the best documentary filmmaker in the national, international, musical, impact & panorama of French-speaking creation and European stories competitions. The jury is made up of six women from the association: Laurence Bachman, Producer and President of PFDM, Laetitia Recayte, Producer and Vice-President of PFDM, Patricia Boutinard Rouelle, producer, Christine Cauquelin, Director of Documentaries for the Canal+ group, Claire Lajeunie, Producer and Director and Françoise Marchetti, Producer and General Secretary of PFDM.
As part of the Professional Days of the Festival, the association will organize a round table on “Female directors in the spotlight” on January 25 at 4:15 p.m., at the Espace Atlantique du Bellevue. This debate will be moderated by Catherine Rambert, Journalist, Author and Vice-President of PFDM. He will receive Catherine Alvaresse, Director of Documentaries at France Télévisions, Christine Cauquelin, Director of Programs and Documentary Channels, Youth and Animation of the Canal+ group, Camille Ducellier, Video Artist specializing in the analysis of gender stereotypes, Marie-Pierre Jaury, Director and Screenwriter, Valérie Müller, Director, Elena Sender, Director specializing in science, and Sabrina Van Tassel, Director.
The prize for the best documentary director went to Sabrina Van Tassel in 2021 for the film The State of Texas vs. Melissa broadcast on Canal + and, in 2022, Marie-Pierre Jaury for the film Option éducation Sexuelle broadcast on France Télévisions.
