France Télévisions and the SACD unveiled on Monday June 12 the first winners of season 2 of the Creation and Diversity fund, the theme of which is devoted to women in French overseas territories (Satellifacts, December 5, 2022). Of the 69 submissions received, the members of the jury selected four projects: Brumes by Damien Deniau; Dorlis by Maeva Ramkalia; Les Cœurs brisés du volcan de la malédiction by Alex Maji and Sisters by Johanna Makabi and Léa Mormin-Chauvac (Bizibi Production, Sirens Films).

The Creation & Diversity fund allocates 10,000 euros gross to each of these four projects to finance the writing of the series pilot. They also benefit from a writing residency in La Rochelle supported by the SACD and the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, where they can pursue the development of their projects. The two finalist projects, among these four selected, will be unveiled in the fall. They will each receive the sum of €80,000 to finance the writing of a complete season.

“The projects have brilliantly highlighted the overseas departments and regions (DROM), such as Reunion, Guyana, Martinique and Guadeloupe, thus making it possible to promote their cultural richness and their singular heritage”, underlines the press release..

Launched in the winter of 2022, the Creation & Diversity fund imagined by France Télévisions and the SACD is a support for the writing of digital series whose ambition is to commit to diversity and equal opportunities and to promote creation on new media that are increasingly popular in the eyes of all audiences.

Meeting on June 6, the Creation & Diversity fund committee, made up of six members co-opted between the SACD and France Télévisions, was made up of Laurence Lascary, producer and founder of the company De L'Autre Côté du Périph; Frédérik Folkeringa, screenwriter; Géraldine de Margerie, screenwriter, director; Paul Joalland, Digital Project Manager, Slash programming – france.tv; Sophia Synodinos, Digital Fiction Program Advisor; Sened Dhab, Director of Digital Fiction.
