The novel Il est grand temps de rallumer les étoiles by Virginie Grimaldi, published in 2018 by Fayard editions, was voted "Favorite book of the French," revealed the channel during a program of the same title, broadcast Thursday evening on France 2 and based on the BBC's The Big Read format. It obtained the most votes from Internet users following a survey issued by the channel (Satellifacts, April 20) and supported by the National Book Center (Centre national du livre). This three-voice story features a single mother who has multiple worries, and her two daughters, a 17-year-old teenager and a 12-year-old child, who also have their own problems. The mother takes them by motorhome to Sweden, Norway and Finland.

In the rest of the ranking, manga series were acclaimed. One Piece thus arrived 2nd, Dragon Ball 8th and Berserk 10th. Harry Potter by Briton JK Rowling ranked 3rd, ahead of the classics. Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is indeed 4th, Les Misérables by Victor Hugo 5th, The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien 6th, and Le Comte de Monte-Cristo by Alexandre Dumas 7th.

With the program, France 2 was the 8th channel of the evening with only 799,000 viewers and a market share of 4.8%, behind France 5, Arte, TMC and TFX.

In the UK format, broadcast on the BBC in 2003, The Lord of the Rings won. In the United States on PBS in 2018, readers voted for To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
