Gulli launched the 2023 edition of the Coup de Pouce Gulli prize for new young readers on Monday, February 20, announced the M6 group channel, which in 2021 joined this award created in 2007 (Satellifacts, February 24, 2021). The operation is once again organized with the support of sociologist and philosopher Edgar Morin. Ophélie Meunier is the sponsor of this edition.
This prize aims to prevent school dropouts by transmitting interest for reading. In 184 cities in France, 1,269 clubs support 6,345 sixth grade students and their families. Detected in a situation of academic fragility by their teachers at the start of the school year, the children are accompanied during extracurricular time. Through activities designed specifically for the prize, children will discover four works of children's literature, intended for children aged 6+, for four weeks, before voting for their favorite. Voting will take place in April and the winning book will be announced at a national ceremony on June 6.
