The 10th edition of the HbbTV Symposium, which was held on November 9 and 10 in Prague (Czech Republic), welcomed nearly 200 participants from 18 countries in Europe, the United States and Latin America, indicated the association which organized it with the Czech association of commercial television stations AKTV, on Thursday, November 24. One of the "trends" that emerged from the debates is the desire of players to "better use and implement HbbTV specifications and [to] make the HbbTV ecosystem more practical and efficient," in particular regarding the deployment of HbbTV -TA, the specification for targeted advertising, the release says.

The HbbTV association highlights in particular an initiative led by the German groups RTL Deutschland and Seven. One Entertainment (ProSiebenSat.1): ATVI (Addressable TV Initiative), open to "all interested broadcasters, platform operators and equipment manufacturers," aims to ensure full technical interoperability of the HbbTV-TA and ADB2 specifications in connected TVs and set-top boxes in Europe.

Participants also addressed issues such as HbbTV's involvement in the new DVB-I standard, compliance and interoperability regimes, and technology trends (metavers, etc.). The debates were filmed and are accessible via the association's website.

The 11th HbbTV Symposium 2023 will take place in November 2023 in Naples, Italy.
