The 16th and 17th Ifcic prizes for the young independent film production company were awarded on Thursday, December 8 respectively to Petit Film, directed by Jean des Forêts and Tripode Productions, directed by Delphine Schmit and Guillaume Dreyfus.
Ifcic specified that it has "chosen to exceptionally reward two companies this year so as not to elude the 2020-2021 period during which independent film production experienced remarkable dynamism, despite the difficulties of production and distribution in theaters caused by the covid-19 pandemic." The awards were presented by Jean-François Tosti, co-founder of the production company TAT Productions, winner in 2019.
The first feature film produced by Petit Film (in co-production with Rouge international) was Grave, a highly acclaimed debut film by Julia Ducournau, which subsequently won the Palme d'Or in 2021 for Titane. More recently, the company distinguished itself with the production of La Fille au bracelet by Stéphane Demoustier (324,250 admissions). It produced the new film by Stéphane Demoustier but also Earwig by Lucile Hadzihalilovic which will be released on January 18, 2023.
This year, Tripode Productions completed the production of Dalva by Emmanuelle Nicot, which was selected for Critics' Week 2022, and co-produced with Helicotronc Le Syndrome des amours passés by Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni. The company is currently developing with Supermouche and Incognita an adaptation of Nicolas Mathieu's novel Connemara, which will be directed by Alex Lutz (Satellifacts, May 25), as well as new films by Vasilis Kekatos and César Diaz.
Created in 2004 and endowed with 15,000 euros, the prize rewards each year a young independent film production company that has successfully sought funding and then produced a feature film, with the support of Ifcic.
