British actor Julian Sands, made famous by films like A Room with a View and Warlock, has been missing for nearly a week in a snow-capped mountain range in California, authorities said Thursday (January 19). Rescue teams began searching on the ground, but had to suspend them on Saturday evening due to the state of the trails and the risk of avalanche in these mountains near Los Angeles.
Helicopter and drone searches continue, however, "weather permitting," a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said. “We will launch new ground searches when the weather improves and when the safety of our ground teams is assured,” she added. County authorities had reported severe weather conditions last week on Twitter.
Aged 65, Julian Sands has made California his home. After James Ivory's A Room with a View in 1985, he starred in many other films (Arachnophobia, Naked Lunch, Leaving Las Vegas, The Phantom of the Opera, etc.) and television series (Smallville, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, etc.).
