After the theatrical release of La Maman et la Putain in a restored 4K version on June 8, 2022 (nearly 32,000 admissions), a retrospective dedicated to Jean Eustache will allow the cinema to screen, from June 7, around fifteen films by the director, in 4K, reported Les Films du Losange on Wednesday March 29 (Satellifacts, January 19, 2022).
This sequence will include the feature films La Rosière de Pessac (1968), Numéro Zero (1971), La Maman et la Putain (1973), Mes petites amoureuses (1974) and La Rosière de Pessac 79 (1979). As for short films, Les Mauvaises Fréquentations : Du côté de Robinson (1964), Le père Noël a les yeux bleus (1966) or among else Le Jardin des délices de Jérôme Bosch (1979)
La Maman et la Putain (1973), the filmmaker's first film to have been restored, and Mes petites amoureuses (1974) were shown on the big screen last year, respectively as the opening of Cannes Classics at the Cannes Film Festival and at the Mostra of Venice (Satellifacts, July 20, 2022).
It should be remembered that the films of the filmmaker, who died in November 1981, were until now rarely shown and never released on DVD, due to a dispute between Les Films du Losange and its heir, Boris Eustache. An agreement was reached in early 2022, after the acquisition of the production and distribution company by producer Charles Gillibert, alongside investor Alexis Dantec and entrepreneur Jacques Veyrat (Satellifacts, August 25, 2021).
