The Lionsgate+ platform (ex-Starzplay) will cease its activity in France on March 31, Satellifacts learned on Friday, January 27, confirming information from Télé-Loisirs. It was launched in 2019 on the French market at a price of 4.99 euros per month.
The American group Lionsgate had announced in November the closure of its platform in seven territories: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Scandinavia and Japan (Satellifacts, November 6). A decision motivated by significant losses of 53.7 million dollars (53.8 M€) suffered in the second half of the year, to which must be added approximately 1.7 billion dollars of non-cash accounting and restructuring charges. The group will publish its third quarter results on February 9.
The Lionsgate group claimed 26.3 million subscribers to its streaming activities worldwide at the end of August.
