Robert De Niro will star in the miniseries Zero Day, a 6 x 52' conspiracy thriller commissioned by Netflix, the platform announced. This role marks the actor's first incursion into TV fiction, of which he will also be a producer.
The series was created by Eric Newman, ex-showrunner of the Narcos series for Netflix, Noah Oppenheim (Jackie, The Thing About Pam, The Maze Runner), ex-president of NBC News, and journalist Michael S. Schmidt, two times a Pulitzer Prize winner, the statement said.
Eric Newman will produce this miniseries through his company Grand Electric Productions (The Watcher, Narcos, Narcos: Mexico), which has an overall deal with the platform for both TV and cinema. The direction of the six episodes of this miniseries was entrusted to Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, The Morning Show, Mad Men, The Leftovers, The West Wing, ER, Twin Peaks).
