News Corp/Fox Corp.: Rupert Murdoch abandons the idea of merging the two groups

Rupert Murdoch has given up on the possibility of a merger of News Corp (press, publishing) and Fox Corporation (audiovisual) he announced on Tuesday, January 24. Both groups belong to the businessman and his family. In the letter announcing this decision, Rupert Murdoch judged that this potential fusion “was not optimal for the shareholders at the present time.”

Special committees were formed last October to assess this possible merger from a legal and financial point of view (Satellifacts, October 17). They were therefore dissolved.
