The management of Radio France announced on Wednesday June 7 to journalists from France Culture the end of the 10 p.m. news from the start of September, as well as the disappearance of all the news from the France Musique schedule, including in the morning., according to a press release from SNJ Radio France published the same day. The announcement was made by Laurence Bloch, director of antennas and editorial strategy, and Vincent Giret, director of information and sports, it is specified.

"Basically, this desire to completely ban information from France Musique and stopping information meetings on France Culture after 6 p.m. is totally incomprehensible ", considers SNJ Radio France, stressing that the 10 p.m. is a strong element of differentiation of France Culture, compared to the other channels of Radio France.

“The management presents this planing of the info as a necessity. In fact, it required channels that they make economies on the costs of their grid, to redeploy means towards digital. No one can dispute the merits of being more present on all media, but not by abandoning the radio, not by having strong ambitions without dedicated means", underlines SNJ Radio France, specifying that the representative bodies of the staff were never informed of these projects.

“The stated objective raises fears of identical announcements in the other channels, in particular at France Inter ”, estimates the union. And to conclude: "It is urgent that the President of Radio France explain herself to the staff representatives on her projects which penalize the antennas, despite excellent audience results, and which may suggest a deliberate attempt to sabotage public radio. »
