The Spanish government has postponed the transition from DTT in standard definition (SD) to full HD until February 14, 2024. The shutdown of the SD was initially scheduled for January 1, 2023.
This decision is due to "an exceptional situation linked to the pandemic, which has slowed down the renewal of the fleet of HD-compatible televisions," according to the press release published on Tuesday, January 17 at the end of the Council of Ministers. Last October, the regulatory authority (CNMC) recommended this postponement.
In France, the transition to all HD took place on the night of April 4 to 5, 2016.
