Birdie Pictures, created in September 2022 by British producer Phil Temple with Studiocanal, is developing a first project: the series production company has acquired the adaptation rights to The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallett, announced the production and distribution subsidiary of the Canal+ group, Thursday, March 2. Previously a producer at Kudos, Phil Temple (This Town, Code 404, The Last Kingdom) benefited from a “significant investment” from Studiocanal to found his company, the press release indicates without further financial or capital details. He is the general manager.

The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels, voted "best thriller of the month" by the Sunday Times, tells the story of a satanic sect; a case revived eighteen years after the collective suicide of the majority of its members by the testimony of a young man who should have been sacrificed when he was a newborn. Former journalist and speechwriter for the British government, Janice Hallett is expected to help develop the project. She has already co-signed the screenplay for the horror thriller Retreat (2011) with director Carl Tibbetts.
