Red Monk Studio, an Italian company acquired in February 2021 by Superprod, has completed the filming of its youth series Home Sweet Rome!, announced the French group on Monday, February 6. Co-produced with the Italian public group Rai, First Generation (Canada) and Family Channel (Wildbrain), the series brings together other international partners: the BBC in the United Kingdom, ARD in Germany (through One Gate Media) and HBO Max in United States, the statement said. Distribution is handled by Superights.
The series tells the story of a 13-year-old American girl (Kensington Tallman of Drama Club) who must adjust to her new life in Rome with her father and her new stepmother (Eleonora Facchini), a pop-star in the country. Created by Michael Poryes (co-creator of female characters Hannah Montana and Raven Baxter from That's So Raven), it was developed and written by Canadians Matt Huether and Courtney Jane Walker, who both worked on the sitcom Degrassi. Home SweetRome! was filmed entirely in Rome.
