Universal Pictures abandons Madonna biopic

The Madonna biopic, which the pop star was to direct herself for Universal Pictures with Julia Garner in the title role, will ultimately not see the light of day, reported the North American press on Tuesday, January 24. This announcement comes as the artist will embark on a world tour in 2023, but, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the project had already been shelved at the end of last year.

Madonna, who should have written the screenplay alongside Diablo Cody (Juno), however, has not given up on making a film about her life one day, to share her "incredible rollercoaster journey" as she announced in 2020 (Satellifacts, September 16, 2020).
