YouTube and mk2 announced on Monday May 15 the creation of the "YouTube Cine Club by mk2", on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival (May 16 to 27), with a series of theatrical meetings around YouTube content. These sessions will allow to discover in movie theaters “the most popular videos on the platform”, in the presence of content creators, but also to discover exclusive content in preview, specifies the press release.
Six meetings (of 2 hours) are planned over the next 12 months, with the ambition of “ developing cinephilia ” among the general public – especially young people – by offering “an immersive and participative experience […] in the unique conditions that a movie theater offers. The first screening will take place during the Cinéma Paradiso Louvre festival in early July.
The animation and editorialization of the evenings were entrusted to Ambroise Carminati, creator of the Sympa Cool YouTube channel (410,000 subscribers), who last year organized the Sympa Cool YouTube Club, an event held in the mk2 halls.
