Harvey Weinstein: sentenced to 16 years in prison in Los Angeles for rape

Former producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Thursday, February 23 to sixteen years in prison in Los Angeles for rape and sexual assault in 2013 on a European actress and model in a hotel in Beverly Hills. The 70-year-old former Hollywood kingmaker is already serving a 23-year prison sentence after his conviction in New York in 2020 for similar charges and which he appealed. He also appealed his conviction on Thursday in Los Angeles.

The trial ended with a split verdict. Jurors found Harvey Weinstein guilty on all charges brought by the European actress. On the other hand, they declared him not guilty concerning those of a second woman, and did not formulate a verdict concerning the allegations made by the other two.
