Sony Pictures: Paul King to direct biopic about Fred Astaire, played by Tom Holland

The Fred Astaire biopic, played by Tom Holland, will be directed by Paul King (Paddington, Wonka), The Hollywood Reporter reported on Monday, February 13. The film, produced by Sony Pictures, is set to revolve around the relationship between the American dancer, singer and actor and his sister, Adele Astaire, from their early days together to Fred Astaire's solo success in Hollywood.

Note that another biopic on Fred Astaire – and Ginger Rogers this time – is in preparation, with Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley in the main roles, and Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F*cking World) directing. Sales will kick off at the Berlinale's European Film Market and production is due to begin this year.
